GRACIE  SCERNI

ABOUT /  WORKS  /  CONTACT
In my abstract paintings, I enjoy exploring organic shapes and vibrant colors, often incorporating stitches and embroidery to deliberately slow down the creative process. This technique invites viewers to engage more closely with the intricate details, allowing them to immerse themselves in the natural space I have created. This technique also allows me to mentally slow down and lose myself in my work in a meditative way.

Similarly, in my textile and ceramic creations, I translate these fluid themes from my paintings into three-dimensional forms. While maintaining a structured approach to these mediums, I also consider the tactile process of bringing each piece to life. There is a new sense of intimacy I get from my three-dimensional work since it can be held, cuddled, and drunk from over time.

Across all my work, I enjoy the steps in between the start and finish just as much as I am relieved when a piece is done. I want the viewer to visually get lost in my work, while finding a sense of peace and comfort to show that contradicting feelings can exist in harmony.
